Doctoral Degrees
GW’s Online Engineering Programs offers four post-master’s online doctoral degree programs: the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in systems engineering, the Doctor of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (D.eng.), the Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) in cybersecurity analytics, and the Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) in engineering management.
Completion of the Doctor of Engineering programs require that research be applied to the solution of a real-world problem using the latest engineering concepts and tools. Through applied (rather than basic) research, the student creates an advanced, practice-based solution. The degree comprises ten courses and a praxis paper in the engineering management field. The expected duration of the program is 2 years.
The Doctor of Philosophy program requires the student to conduct fundamental research leading to foundational work that is published in professional journals and contributes to the field of systems engineering. The degree includes eight courses and an original dissertation. The expected duration of the program is 3 years.
